I’m not sure I follow the maths , right now in a monthly snapshot the 6 online firms listed out of around 100-200 brands have around 25,000 sales agreed . How are we getting to 100,000 in a year ?

Queue OTM reps around everyone again offering the “fair price “ of £50 . Who on earth would sign up for this debacle . The man who has just fleeced the industry for another £6.25M whilst sending absolutely no value ,has no room to talk about what’s expensive

I spoke to a friend of mine who has a couple of branches and stopped paying On the market . He says he received an invoice for the full amount of his 5 year contract . Then , the day after it landed he got a phone call saying they would be willing to wipe the balance and offer him a cheaper deal than he had when he stopped paying if he voted yes..... looks like the shenanigans have started !!

I wonder if the OTM figures included the 600 that have left to return to Zoopla, I also wonder how many have returned to Rightmove ... Looks like a sinking ship

I'm sure that their vendors will be delighted that they have removed them from a site with huge audience and adverts to a site with no adverts and tiny audience . If that's literally the best thing you could find to say to justify a commercial decision . If we can more honest about it Richard Greenham says " They came and offered it to us for £50 so we thought screw the marketing of vendors houses , we could save some cash . If anyone asks we will say something about having no ads on site or some other whatnot"

I think he's expressed his measure above Chris, any agent who uses rm and z can quite confidently say they offer more than an OTM agent . It's fairly black and white

Give over Ray, seems your slave to the 80's . No ones forcing you to use them and if you can't afford £1000 a month for advertising it's not one of the portals that will close your business ....these guys charge me less than the papers did 10 years ago

The biggest purchase/sale of their lives ? It stands to reason then that they are going to want the largest audience possible .It's a marketing tool to be used at point of instruction , biggest is best

Id be interested to know how your gaining a better customer reaction by telling them your moving from a household name to a website with significantly less traffic that has only been around a year and in liklehood they have never heard of ? Most of my instructions have a sentance that goes something like this me - "We invest in Rightmove and Zoopla to make sure that you get the widest possible audience to help you achieve the best price, some of our competitors have decided to drop one of those to go for a new website with far less traffic called On The Market" - Vendor "Who" - Me "Thats my point"

If there is a shock to the house prices i.e they go down surely that makes things easier for first time buyers to get on the housing market. That statement makes no sense, it looks like they are playing every angle negatively

Many of them have wasted far more than £50 smile please , for some that's about 4 days membership of a website they don't want to be on.

I'm not sure you've been keeping up James ? Some of their own clients are planning to sue them and the CMA has evidence of collusion . If anyone wants to join ,contact me first . I have an intersting proposition involving a Nigerian prince and his goldmine ....

My understanding was that thousands of agents joined Agents mutual and created on the market to challenge Rightmoves dominance in the market place and have a portal that owned by a mutual and therefore transparent over its pricing policy....Hows it working out ?

Hi Roderick, As a member of agents mutual may I suggest that as a recourse you ring the company and ask them directly ? If you are happy paying or have yourself a £50 contract then there is no problem .If , like many others , you take umbridge with the pricing policy the only avenue that can clear this up is to call the company concerned

Steve , headline reads " top end estate agents open portal and concentrate spend in market areas they operate " .... It's not exactly the Monsecca files

The standard responses that are coming out are intersting , all of which refer to standard practises for companies , have they forgotten they are not a company but actually a mutual ? I wonder who was consulted on this course of action ? It sounds like there would have been at 3/400 votes against collecting outstanding monies that we can identify !

This is equivalent to being asked for a character reference and saying "well, he's got really nice hair " .....people find it a joy to navigate , like Rightmove has some trapdoors and zoopla throws out a shark every third page

"Some are believed to be joining OTM on temporarily discounted fees" .. It looks very much like Ian is replacing estate agents leaving them at £300 a month with deals at £50 . Hardly growing the business . Also as these guys didn't advertise anywhere but Rightmove before is this really a win ?

Let me get this straight, those who have invested in this from the start, given over £3000 per office of their child's inheritance and suffered through a year of abysmal results are now having their neighbouring branches list for free? Was this a membership decision ... Anyone use the fsmous one member ,one vote ?

Just the language used here ... "An OTM spokeswoman said , OTM has decided that INEA is a competing portal" The very fact that they can pick and choose who is a competitor at any time with little to no input from its membership is very troubling behavior in my opinion.

If this where the case Ken, how would explain the OTM traffic numbers ? It's has a quarter of the stock yet less than 10% of the Zoopla visitor figures and less than 5% of Rightmoves. The real world data suggests that buyers know where to look and that's Righnkve and Zoolpla. If a new car website opened tomorrow you'd still look on Autotrader and maybe EBay dependant on the car. Your belief is that this is whole of market ...

I think the analysis is sound but it's one of a number of factors, some of which are also mentioned . Speculative buyer checks zoopla to find that his dream home isn't on added to stamp duty etc etc

Springett faceplams " you weren't supposed to tell the Urchins until we had properly sewn up removing the boards properties from everything but OTM . We want our own portal for £1million properties to make sure that the grubby urchins can't compete but we want them to pay for it . You weren't supposed to let on "
