Propertymark conducts spot checks on agents to ensure they are compliant - but perhaps gives too little publicity to its role.
The revelation comes out of a video interview with Propertymark chief executive Nathan Emerson; in it he outlines how the organisation conducts spot checks, the penalties it levies on agents, and its role as an early warning system to alert agents to problems which may have dire consequences if they were spotted by, for example, Trading Standards.
The interview also covers Propertymark’s approach towards agents who may feel reluctant - or even angry - at the prospect of having to take examinations and win qualifications if greater formal regulation of the industry is instituted in 2022.

Propertymark’s involvement in and pushing of RoPA is nothing short of a scandal.
