A man who says he is disenchanted with estate agents’ inability to find a buyer for his home is attempting to sell it on Facebook, with a cash incentive for people who share the social media status with friends.
Josh Hocking from Lytham St Annes in Lancashire has posted images and details of the two bed semi-detached house after receiving only two offers on the property during four months on the market with an estate agent.
Now he has taken matters into his own hands and, buoyed up by having found a tenant for an apartment he has let via Facebook, he is trying the same route to see if it finds a buyer. Those sharing his status will win £1,000 if they pass it on to someone who goes on to purchase the property.
Hocking’s Facebook entry is a good deal more informal than an estate agents’ brochure and says: “Okay! So after the huge success of putting my apartment up for rent on Facebook, I have decided to see if anyone wants to buy my Lovely house! If you share this status and I sell the house (from your share) I will pay you £1000! It's 2 bedroom, located on Headroomgate Road in St Annes! It is one of the oldest property's in the area with so much character throughout! It's Stunning! Garage & large garden included! Brand new extension, bathroom, kitchen, Central heating & Double glazed! £60,000 renovation done! Planning permission granted for further extensions! Have a look at the photos! And to arrange a viewing call or text Josh 07527765102. Offers around £195,000. With 10% deposit, expect mortgage payments to be around the £875 mark!”
