Russell Manning, founder of Northern Estate Agencies Group and one of the best-known figures in northern England’s property sector, has been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List.
He is widely known as the founder of Manning Stainton, one of the north’s leading independent agencies.
It later expanded to form Northern Estate Agencies Group, bringing together Manning Stainton, Ryder & Dutton and Mortimers before becoming part of LRG.
The award honours services to charitable causes.
He has given more than 30 years of voluntary service to Leeds Jewish Welfare Board and Leeds Jewish Housing Association, having been Chair of both organisations, supporting vital welfare, housing and care services for older people, vulnerable adults, people with mental health needs, those with learning disabilities and neurodiversity, and many others requiring practical and emotional support.
Russell has also been a Trustee and supporter of the United Hebrew Congregation in Leeds – one of the city’s most important Jewish Communal institutions.
Alongside this, Russell has been the driving force behind Manning Stainton’s long-running support for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Since 2012, the business has raised more than £250,000 for Macmillan through a wide range of fundraising initiatives.
He says: “I am incredibly humbled to receive this honour. Leeds has been my home all my life and it has been a privilege to play a part in supporting organisations that mean so much to so many people.”
