Agents Do Charity ... the 26 miles and 385 yards edition

It’s London Marathon weekend and while plenty of agents do great charity work in other ways, this event is always a big one for the property industry.

Everyone at Angels Media and Estate Agent Today wish all the runners good luck and decent weather, and we make special mention below of those who have contacted us seeking a little extra help in publicising their efforts.

Whether you’re running or not, we love showing the industry what you’re up to - so please keep us in touch with your fund-raising by emailing us on press@estateagenttoday.co.uk.

CLIC Sargent: Chris Rosindale and David Pavitt from London agency Barnard Marcus are to run the Virgin London Marathon this Sunday in aid of CLIC Sargent – the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people and Barnard Marcus’ nominated charity for more than 15 years.

Following several months of fundraising, Chris, Area Director for Barnard Marcus and David, Branch Partner at the Wallington branch, have now raised almost £3,500 – over 90 per cent of their target. Fundraising activities have included dress down days, coffee mornings and even a Christmas jumper day, with staff from all 40 Barnard Marcus branches across London and Greater London.

“We are both very much looking forward to taking part this Sunday and absolutely astounded by the levels of support we’ve had from friends, family and our fantastic colleagues,” says David. “Training is going well – although we’re not nearly as prepared as we probably should be!  But we’re looking forward to getting down there on the day and seeing everyone cheering us along.”

Housing For Women: Leigh Munday, a branch manager at Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward, will be running the London Marathon on Sunday for Housing For Women, a charity KFH has been supporting for many years.

It’s a great cause that we have featured on Agents Do Charity in the past - here is Leigh’s JustGiving page, so please donate generously: https://www.justgiving.com/leigh-munday2

Magic Moments: The Conveyancing Foundation’s next charity cycle is a 255-mile jaunt from Cardiff to Colchester in aid of the Magic Moments Charity. Magic Moments raise funds for terminally ill children to enjoy trips to Disneyland Paris. Last year the charity raised over £60,000.00 from a London to Brighton Cycle.

The cycle will be over three sections, finishing this weekend, with a target to raise over £10,000. Conveyancing Foundation supporters, Lloyd Davies, Rob Hosier and Geraint Aubrey will be cycling the whole way to Colchester, whilst other members are taking part in the 63 mile Cardiff to Bath leg.

MacMillan Cancer Support: Simon Ketteringham and Paul Lehan, two estate agents from Castlehill agency in Leeds are saddling up for a well-known 112-mile route around the Lake District that takes in the climbs of Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter and  Wrynose mountain passes, as well as the energy-sapping one-in-three ascent of the Hardknott pass

The duo will be wearing specially-designed Castlehill lycra for the challenge, which has raised more than £1m for charity since it was first launched back in 1999.

To support them on the challenge that lies ahead, people can make donations through https://www.justgiving.com/paulandsimonfredwhittonchallenge

Magic Moments: Here’s more great fundraising for this wonderful charity.

Russell Jervis from Spicerhaart writes: Sixty colleagues and I are cycling to Colchester from Cardiff in aid of Magic Moments charity which sends families to Disneyland Paris for a ‘magic moment’. Many of the children have life-limiting illnesses, or it could be siblings that have lost a brother or sister recently. These families are facing the most unimaginable situations and having been to Disney with them I am humbled by how each day they get up smile and treat each day with such positivity.

“The ride is over three days - 18 are doing the whole thing and about 25 others are joining the first and last leg.  The web link for the charity is www.magicmomentscharity.co.uk

“Fund raising is going well and we’re nearly at £40,000 and really hoping to push for £50,000. We’ll be cycling past many estate agents offices so any encouragement welcome.

“I know we are all competitive so maybe other agents could throw food or money at us as we slowly move along!”

Good luck to Russell and his great team - give them a cheer and a donation!
