If business is a bit quiet over the next few Mondays, don’t feel guilty at watching TV - you could even describe it as working.
That’s because ITV is showing a new daytime show called Guess This House which challenges contestants to guess the value of homes and their contents.
In each episode, two couples compete against each other across a number of different properties, trying to guess how much the houses are worth along with everything in them. The better they do, the more time they have for the final, prime property, where they are competing for a cash prize.
The show is hosted by Saira Khan - fans of The Apprentice may remember her as the particularly loud finalist who was almost-but-not-quite-hired by Lord Sugar back in 2004.
One of the early programmes shows contestants visiting properties in Bury St Edmunds, nominated by estate agency Whatley Lane, which advised on the homes to use and flew a drone over one of them to provide aerial footage.
“It was a major coup for us as we’re rather new kids on the block in Bury St Edmunds where the market is quite competitive so it was great to be singled out by a national TV company” James Sawyer from Whatley Lane is quoted as saying in the Bury Free Press.
Guess This House is broadcast in most ITV regions from 12.30pm to 1.30pm each Monday from July 27.

God, this sounds utterly dreadful. I know nearly all daytime TV must, by law, be absolutely, toe-curlingly awful, but this really takes the biscuit.
And, to put the icing on a particularly bad-tasting cake, Saira Khan (one of the most annoying contestants on The Apprentice ever, and that's quite an achievement) is the host.
Count me out!
With you on that, Jon! The phrase 'scraping the barrel' springs to mind.
My mantra is to avoid most daytime TV at all costs, because it is nearly always total and utter dross that rots your brain. Just look at Loose Women or This Morning.
This show isn't going to change my stance, that much is for sure. Who comes up with these ideas? More to the point, who commissions them?
Nothing surprises me anymore. Sounds like an incredibly vague and wafer-think concept. Guess the house price - really? You go out to a restaurant with the family and you play the game where everyone guesses the bill. It's fun, yes, but that doesn't mean a gameshow should be made out of it. It might be fun to guess the possible price of a house, but that certainly doesn't warrant a daytime show on ITV dragging this out to the max.
I suppose they have to fill the schedules with something, and I doubt many people will actually be watching, but sometimes I do long for the days where the girl and the clown was the only thing you'd see during the day!
Sounds like a bit of fun, but I certainly won't be watching and I hope most of my staff don't either! They might say they're watching for research purposes, but I don't think this very ITV-sounding programme will be educational in any way.
I can't quite believe this show will rake in the viewers, but could be an interesting watch nonetheless.

Steer well clear of ITV during the daytime otherwise you may come across half-hearted, half-baked dross like this. Seriously, who wants to watch a couple guessing the prices of houses? Once, at a push, it might be entertaining, but after that it surely becomes tedious, repetitive and extremely dull. No, not for me.
@Jonathan Rolande - at least Supermarket Sweep was entertaining. This programme won't be remembered 12 months from now, let alone 12 years in the future.
I can picture the scene. Some bright spark heads to the commissioning editor with the following proposal.
"It's a show where two couples compete against each other to guess the value of various houses."
"Yes...and?"
"That's it."
"That's it?"
"Yes. And it's presented by Saira Khan."
"Who?"
"She was on The Apprentice. The really annoying one."
"Right, well, it sounds awful but it also sounds cheap and cheerful. Let's put it on daytime telly where barely anyone will have to suffer it. We've got to fill these schedules somehow, you know!"
"Great, brilliant! I've got another idea, while we're at it."
"Yes. Go on."
"It's called Watching Paint Dry, presented by Craig from series 1 of Big Brother..."
The phrase "you can't polish a turd" would be appropriate here. Having said that, ITV are experts at trying.
