Controversial firm traceWise, which traces property owners, is cutting its rates to estate agents.

The firm announced its launch in September after ‘soft-trialling’ its offering for around a year.

The service finds contact details of property owners, down to their telephone numbers. When we ran the story some agents thought this breached privacy, although the firm insisted that it uses only information that has been ‘freely consented’.

The cost at that time was quoted as being from £15 to £25 per successful trace, but now the firm says that ‘through a combination of operating efficiencies and increased volumes’ the cost is now between £10 and £15.

Telephone numbers, where obtained and including mobiles, are included within the fee.

traceWise says it offers a unique tracing service, which is of particular interest to lettings agents who find it difficult to identify and contact landlords of properties that are vacant or tenanted as the owners are not themselves in occupation.

Gavin Nathan, managing director of traceWise, said: “Over the last year we fine-tuned our proposition to clients and are able to pass on the benefits of these operating efficiencies to our clients. We are now in a period of rapid expansion and growth.”

Consultant to the firm, Michael Day, said that it was growing very fast, with volumes having doubled over the last four months. He said the new pricing reflects a push for more growth.

He added that users include some well-known industry names, from single offices to major multi-office brands.

He added: “At, say, £12 a go, it is a very economic way of getting property owner data.”
