Comparison website netanagent, which launched in September, says it is performing better than expectations.

The site allows people with a property to sell or let to post their details on the site. Agents can then ‘bid’ for the instruction by sending their quotes, and detailing their fees and service. The successful agent pays once the property is either let or sold – £100 in the former case and a minimum of £200 in the latter.

The site has launched into a market which has competitors, but says it is attracting good levels of business.

Founder Alex Thorpe says it is currently listing over £17m worth of property. In the last five weeks alone, he says 27,500 visitors have been to the site.

Thorpe said: “We’re delighted with the feedback from both estate agents and those that have instructed an agent through the site so far.

“Our aim in launching the site was to turn the property selling or letting process on its head, as for the first time, estate agents have to demonstrate upfront what exactly they will be charging, and more importantly, the value they’ll add to the sales process.

“We’ve already seen a raft of competitive offers on the table for the home owner to pick and choose from, and we’re hoping this will lead to a real shake-up of the market.”

He added: “We’re striking a balance between providing property owners with the best deal and providing agents with good-quality leads and a stronger online presence.

“We’re planning to continue our fast expansion for the remainder of this year and into next.”

"...says it is performing better than expectations."

Hmmm. Just goes to show the old sayings are still the truest.

Confucius he say "set your expectations low enough you will ALWAYS meet or exceed them".

And then you can send out a press release! ;o)

EAT, please before printing this drivel can you at least ask people to send proof of their made up figures.

What is the point in publishing these ridiculous stories if there is no proof behind them whatsoever, it's a joke.

At least ask them to email the figures over to you or something, I know it might mean you have to do some actual work but since you claim to be the voice of estate agency, I think it's only fair.
