Do you feel OTM has been worth it for you?

and by the same argument, stupidity is stupidity

With a valuation of 200M would this then mean that Springett is worth 10% of the overall company? And with shares, unlike with a mutual, share ownership translates to voting power. The long term aim will be to turn this OTM into a RedFin or Purplebricks where the agents all share a common OTM brand.

I suspect the biggest of these issues is the collusion and this website have already demonstrated some of the evidence they have. If true, then this collusion will have extremely serious repercussions for those involved as well as the whole industry.

I think now there's enough smoke that there'll be a few investigative journalists getting stuck into this. From the other side, there must be a few seriously worried people and now this comes down to the prisoner's dilemma. Report before being reported is the name of the game..... ......once it's too late it will be too late

If true (and I really do question whether it is) could this result in custodial sentences?

The arrogance of the founders has been unbelieveable. How dare they have tried to dictate our industry like this. They are bringing nothing but a ruinous reputation upon all estate agents. This really is the morning after now and I'm sure many are wondering how on earth they thought they could get away with such abuse of their market leading position and reputation. We want a fair honest market place.

Was this the guy who claims to have founded AM by arranging a meeting at that swanky London club? If "is here to stay" is the best they can do then that sounds pretty worrying to me

OTM is the worst thing to ever hit agency. It is just forcing and showing that agents are telling massive porkies to serve their own ends. Witness the story from yesterday and again now. It's a disgrace and ruins all of our reputation
From:

Can we find out the terms of this deal? Some of the posters here are already suspecting that it is a heavily subsidised. Taking money from one agent and funding another is certainly not a mutual and certainly not sustainable. However this taking from one to pay for another is exactly what the independents are doing to subsidise the games of Savoy's and Franklin Knicks.

Have faith. Knight Frank and Savills are right behind you and your and business. Be faithful, not in what they do, but what they say. Be faithful in their benevolence.
From:
Harry NoName
11 January 2016 08:48 AM
Is this really true though? "to regain control of our industry" If the master vision did pan-out then we'd all be beholden to Springett and the Savills and KF eminence grise behind him. Classic sucker story. Should read Savills and KF strengthen control of the industry!
From:
Harry NoName
07 January 2016 14:31 PM
Wooohooo "I don't believe we are experiencing any loss of business" That's absolutely terrific news about KF. Everyone should do the same and experiene no loss of business.
From:
Harry NoName
07 January 2016 14:26 PM
The crunch point is this: "I simply cannot put YOUR well-intentioned goals ahead of my primary responsibility." Yes we know what they say they want, but this is a closed club of elite London agents making deals in restaurants - and do they (national chains) really want your business to succeed?
From:
Harry NoName
06 January 2016 11:36 AM
So ironic that this is all being done by the Savills and KF duopoly! Why would the industry get into bed with these guys......AM in its realisation could be a truly terrible for the industry. Whoever ran AM would rule the entire UK propery market as a dictatorship and fiefdom. Don't let this happen

Would the CMA need to wait for a full year to elapse before they can impose fines of one year revenue?
From:

So your competitors subsidised you on this one. Well played Sir!
From:
Harry NoName
01 December 2015 10:03 AM
Now that we're approaching the 1 year mark, i can the CMA can legitimately fine the participating companies 10% of annual revenue. A listed company like Countrywide would never be so dumb as to join. They just could never defend the decision to investors and unless it provided a demonstrable benefit then nobody would risk a corporate career on it. OTM is too tainted for them now anyway
From:

@JonTarrey "He had plenty to say when they first launched, but he's been remarkably tight-lipped since agents from all over the country have been coming out to criticise his brainchild. " Wasn't this whole thing actually the brainchild of someone from Glentree which arranged the dinner at a posh london restaurant?

Lower Costs, Lower Traffic, Lower Leads @SMILEPLEASE agree with you here. if they just let people off without honouring the contracts then this will bring down the house of cards. Letting people out of the contract will mean they just dip in and out and that would be a disaster. I'm afraid his best bet is to suck it up or sue first.

Agent's Revolt
From:
Harry NoName
29 October 2015 06:15 AM
Mr Crayson is right - there's been nothing but broken promises. The major issue is that these broken promises demanded agents take a huge risk for their own business. This is immoral - agents take the risk and if it works then someone gets to be a hero, if it doesn't then early retirement. It does make you wonder what Savills and Knight Frank have to say here. Their profits are up and growing. Who really are the bad guys?
From:

PREDICTION 1.. independents leave en-masse in january when their contract expires (a bit like they left zoopla) 2.. springett will u-turn and drop the 1 other portal rule and start crowing about doing it because they're so successful 3.. people forget the difference between this and propertylive

From:
Harry NoName
26 October 2015 14:05 PM
@simon They claimed they didn't believe in a duopoly in principle. Yet their rules are designed to create a duopoly - just with them in it. So this shows you the type of principled organisation it is.
From:
Harry NoName
22 October 2015 16:35 PM
Maybe we could ask the Editor to investigate the question of the legalities of the contract. This is perhaps the most important question on people's mind. Dropping the one other portal rule then it would mark an ignominious end to the career of the CEO. However now they have this rule in place, I just don't see how they can change it or fail to enforce it without devastating consequences.

Squandered a fortune and delivered nothing. The jury has in fact gone home. So glad I'm not an agent paying for this because it would feel still like paying for last years holiday.

From:

Shafted. This was never in the manifesto but now it's clear they had this planned all along. This is a complete deception. Agent money is being used developing and promoting properties that we'll never benefit from. Knight Frank and Savills are laughing to bonus season now. Even Ms Evans must realise that we have all been completely Tango'd by this.
From:

oh dear. just returning from another property publication. what a joke. it really is wrong to publish such bias when people are using this to direct their business into these crazy contracts. still it seems self fueling because these 5 year contracts are being used to fund advert on that publication.

Fact 3 - You can survive on bread and water Fact 4 - With my missus, I couldn't survive on bread and water! @Kelly - You asked where is the evidence? Two forms....the first is the news that we read about it, and the second is that the public neither know nor care. So far I think Simon's predictions have been accurate. Looking silly is not the issue, the big question is what has this endeavour cost your business

From:

Being objective, both Rightmove and Zoopla have seen absolutely staggering price rises in their share price. Was this the aim? If anyone thinks its anything other than flop then explain by what measure. The fact is that many agents have switched to from Z to aim and now get less listings and less sales and a lead weight around the neck for 5 years. Given the resources, promises and money (some of you) have put forward, you really have been led a merry dance. The big question is when to cut your losses. Once the staff start leaving, for something more glamorous - anything, then writing on wall.
From:
Harry NoName
15 June 2015 12:33 PM
@RM It hasn't flopped? You try telling her that it's just learning and evolving and see how long she stays! At least she's not daft enough to have a 5Y contract!
From:

Will the bigwigs of the founding agents resign when they finally admit this thing has flopped and they've cost not only their company, but other smaller agents a lot of money?
