Organisers axe Property Press Awards

The organisers behind a prestigious property journalist awards ceremony has announced the event will no longer go ahead.

The Property Press Awards were a permanent fixture of the journalist events calendar.

Previously run by LSL, Property4Media took over in 2017 and Estate Agent Today as well as its former editor Graham Norwood were regular winners.

But it was announced last week that running the awards was no longer viable.

Henry Hemming, chief executive of Property4Media, said: “Running the awards since we took them on in 2017 has always been a pleasure.
“We have produced memorable nights, worthy winners and moments of great drama and satisfaction.

“We have worked tirelessly to create a meritorious process to draw entries from the best talents in the industry – in which we have succeeded - and in doing so positioned the Awards as the unrivalled platform for recognising excellence in our sector.

“But every single year, we have run the awards at a significant financial loss to parent company News4Media.

“For that reason, we have decided that the story must sadly come to an end.

“Although we have enjoyed support from a number of industry brands in the process - for which are hugely grateful – the support from the wider industry in maintaining the awards has unfortunately not been sufficient for us to continue. However, we recognise the immense pressure on costs that all companies face – that's understood.”

While the Property Press Awards 2022, where Estate Agent Today won trade publication of the year – was the finale, Hemming said Property4Media is open to discussions with anyone who wants to take on the event.

He added: “Property4Media continues to go from strength to strength as the network uniting the property media with the property industry, and we look forward to continuing to engage closely with media and PRs on the site and through events.”
