JLL rebrands its China Desk

Property consultancy JLL has rebranded its residential China division to the APAC Desk.

JLL’s residential China Desk was established in 2012 when the firm was the first agent to enter the Chinese market.

The team has since grown to more than 10 market experts based in London, who collaborate with all of JLL’s fourteen Asia offices including mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia and the 60 strong market leading international residential sales teams based in Asia.

The desk works alongside all JLL residential colleagues including the London Residential Development team to support clients for the sale and marketing of some of London’s most high-profile developments to the APAC region, where in 2022 the team sold more than 500 units with a value of more than £540m and circa £100m of sales in the first quarter of 2023.

The team speaks fluent English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Malay with many of them having more than a decade of experience of living and working in the UK, allowing them to offer the best local knowledge to the firm’s clients across Asia.

The rebrand was driven by the opportunity to expand the reach of services currently offered to clients and purchasers by the team, reflecting the changing pace and requirement of buyers within the APAC region as they continue to invest in London, JLL said.

By removing the siloed one country approach the team will be able to provide a fully integrated service across all of APAC’s markets, under one business line. These markets include Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Taiwan.

Freya Watson, head of international residential development at JLL said: “By rebranding we are boosting our coverage across Asia Pacific, alongside our scope of services that were previously defined to mainland China. The change marks a progressive step towards building market share and growing awareness of our residential business offering across APAC.”
