Agents get nine months free use of PropTech tool in latest FIA deal

The Federation of Independent Agents has agreed another new partnership with an industry supplier.

The arrangement will allow FIA agent members nine months of free access to mio, a sales progression and communication tool.

The FIA, which charges agents £295 plus VAT per branch per month, is a member-only organisation with the objectives of giving independents the scale and quality of supplier access that is often reserved for bulk-buying corporates.

Founder Graham Lock says it has so far attracted over 200 agency brands with some 400 branches; it allows only one member agent per town.

“Not only will mio create efficiencies for agents during the sales progression process but will also deliver enhanced communications to buyers and sellers alike” says Lock.

mio was unveiled last month after what its creators describe as a successful 18-month pilot in Cardiff.

“With over 500 agency branches across England and Wales already enabled on mio, I’m delighted to be working with the FIA membership and introducing even more agents” says product director Jon Horton.

Since its inception earlier this year, the FIA  has announced partnerships with a number of suppliers to the industry, including outsourced viewing service Viewber, reviews platform Feefo, data resource Homesearch and the Mortgage Advice Bureau.

The other day, maybe only yesterday I read an article about the owner hoping to achieve 100 members by the end of the first year so is this 200 or so “attraction” or actual members? I’m not criticising just asking since our industry is often guilty of throwing figures around like confetti. Just look at the controversy over the Purple Bricks achievement of selling 85% of houses it listed?

Hi Clive. A valid point. FIA have some 200 agency brands (400+ branches) who pre-registered their interest before our launch last month. Not all are suitable following certain checks that we carry out once an application is made, some areas we have multiple applications but only accept one per town, it also takes time for agents to complete the demo and our proposals to be sent out etc. I’m personally involved in the process to ensure quality control. Hence why it will take some time to on-board the first 100 or so. The quality is important. Hope that helps to clarify.
