Zoopla on the prowl for new advertising agency

The Zoopla Property Group is reported to be looking for a new advertising agency after a clash of interest following the acquisition of price comparison site USwitch.

Zoopla’s acquisition of the site meant that Albion - the creative agency used by Zoopla, and the firm behind the ‘Smart Knows’ advertising campaign - had a conflict of interest as it was also working with Comparethemarket.com, a direct rival of USwitch.

Marketing industry website The Drum says Zoopla’s recently-appointed chief marketing officer Gareth Helm is searching for an agency that could manage both the property portal and USwitch.

“It's a conflict that can't be resolved. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with ZPG and wish them continued success in the future" says Jason Goodman, founder and chief executive of Albion, which won the account for Zoopla back in 2010.

Last year ZPG extended Albion’s brief, asking it to service its entire brand portfolio including PrimeLocation.

The Drum quotes Zoopla founder and chief executive Alex Chesterman as saying: “They are a great firm and we are grateful for the value they've added. No doubt we'll work together again in the future.”
