I am really looking forward to the launch of Boomin , it’s something different and has the potential to shake up the norm significantly .

I have no issue with you not liking me, but let’s be clear , I have not jumped from portal to portal , I have only ever publicly backed OneDome before now and still very much do . Obviously i also believe Boomin to be a credible and viable proposition. The portal market needs competition to bring fairness to pricing models , better service standards and much needed innovation.

I don't have any vested interest or the hump with CWEA. I was asked my view and gave my honest response

Not sure the validity of these stats, you have to involve agents or buyers and sellers directly to get the stats and I don't know any agent who has been involved ? I think online agents with poor or zero sales progression has impacted a lot of chains , something a few years ago thst wasn't a factor

The Countrywide model failed because it didn't use a single national brand. It didn't have a great marketing strategy and it didn't spend millions market it. Not to mention how poorly it was implemented and how little incentive to sales force had to embrace it

Why would you ask Anyone at CWEA about anything to do with estate agency. Anyone with any real experience of the industry has been pushed away.

Just for clarity neither Zoopla or Rightmove have any penetration in Northern Ireland they tried and failed. The market their is dominated by 2 portals one of which could teach the portals here a thing or two about how to treat its memeber agents

It's a mutual not a company? Members should have been consulted if their money was best spent on building the portal as apposed to pursuing its own members. One company one vote. If they don't get to vote on issues of this magnitude what do they get to vote on.

The point is this is NOT a company it's a mutual. Spending money that quite obviously threatens ability to pay back members their loan notes without a vote or at least consultation seems very much not the behaviour of a MUTUAL. The loan notes were paid to build a portal not sue it's own members.

The agents are not blaming OTM for loss of business they are Claiming that misdepresentation won their custom and signature in the 1st instance, early adopters were promised always lower subscription rates promise broken. So the early supporters who made it possible pay more have longer contracts and in some cases loaned money to make it all happen are disadvantaged over newcomers? Add in for many smaller firms total lack of leads, silence to concerns raised, refusal to discuss issues and threatening legal letters to its members who had no fnacail means to gain legal representation individually then a group action became inevitable, a group That receives 2 to 3 new enquires a week about signing up I might add. Is that proper behaviour is that how a mutual should operate? This can so easily be resolved with sensible discussion and CONCESSION on both sides, strong leadership and mutual understanding of the others position. The group have offered this but met with stalling, gamesmanship and a total lack of respect. The idea was brilliant and should not be abandoned but without a significant change of stance understanding leadership and direction OTM is NOT The agents saviour it set out to be.

Firstly the system is antiquated and poor and needs legislative overhaul, technology has not as yet disrupted this space and needs to badly, in my view the lengthy uncertain process is the main factor beyond even cost of keeping transactional volumes low. Their are good agents but let's be fair there are poor agents, there are good solicitors but let's be fair there are bad ones. Modernise the whole system from top to bottom. Agents so often set deals up badly from the start this needs eradicating and standardising. Solicitors often go slow, take in too many cases, forget to do simple things that cause delay and even sales to collapse where technology could work flow this so much better. My friend you are playing the blame game, lets play the find a solution game the reward is massive and the Past cant be changed, the question is do we have the skill, desire and force of opinion to change the future.
