A lettings agency in Essex has opened in memory of a tragic baby, pledging to give 10% of its turnover to Little Havens, the hospice which looked after her.

Steve Starkey, 43, from Benfleet, has named Liberty Lettings after his 18-month-old daughter who died last year from a rare genetic disorder.

Steve and his wife Francesca hope to raise £10,000 for the charity in their first year of trading.

He said: “Everyone involved with the business, including our clients, will be helping the charity.

“Liberty means freedom, which is something our daughter didn’t have much of while she was alive, except when she was wonderfully cared for at Little Havens.”
