Countrywide’s Sotheby’s International Realty brand has opened its second London office, in Chelsea.

The new office will work alongside its Mayfair office, which opened in 1998, to increase its coverage of the capital and respond to the international market’s demand for prime luxury property in fashionable Chelsea, Kensington, Fulham and Knightsbridge.

The new office has a nine-strong team headed up by Sophie Panizzo, who has been with Sotheby’s International Realty since 2004.

UK Sotheby’s International Realty was acquired by Countrywide on a licence, for an undisclosed sum, when it had just one office.

It is now aiming for rapid expansion with offices launching in wealth spots Cobham in Surrey, Stratford-upon-Avon, Canford Cliffs in Dorset, and Henley-on-Thames.

Good tatic, fit young woman to impress old grey suited vendors, plenty of free valuations I bet.

    1) Owned by Countrywide.
    2) Managed by someone who hasn't recently worked the Canford Cliffs patch, if at all.
    3) He ran a below par office for Savills (which had to be closed).
    4) Attempting to win marketshare by .75% fee, (and not making a dent).
    5) How long will Countrywide swallow the losses for before they close this office?
5a) Pride says it must be 12 months.
5b) They'll switch the manager in 6 months, another manager by year end (hopefully Sophie Panizzo) and then dither to make a final decision for a period.
5c) Definitely closed by end of 2013.
    6) Their strategy should have been to get London sorted first then leverage the position and move out.
    7) DUMB DUMB DUMB.
    8) Watch that cash burn!
