Estate and letting agents are being urged to take data protection rules more seriously.
It comes as the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) issued fresh advice concerning compliance with UK GDPR law after an examination of complaint data stated there is a lack of comprehension about it in the housing sector.
Propertymark is hosting a webinar on 9 January titled ‘Unlocking the Mysterious World of GDPR’ to address this.
It will include advice from Anna Walters from cybersecurity expert Risk Evolves, focusing on how to tackle any GDPR issues in the housing market.
Nathan Emerson, chief executive at Propertymark, said: “Propertymark understands the importance of estate and letting agents complying with GDPR law and it is crucial that agents make themselves aware of the legislation in order to avoid any breaches or legal fines.
