Aside from people trying to make a quick buck from volatile penny shares, their business model relies on customers paying cash upfront. Two things - who in their right mind would give them money when their future s under threat and secondly, if they take money in the knowledge they may go bust then there will be consequences.

A great move for investors as it de-risks the business. Yes, it reduces the costs base massively - but it reduces income by the same percentage. Franchising is a world away from retail, corporate, homogenous agency. You cant force franchisees in to hitting targets. You can't sack them! It will be a whole new world for franchisor and franchisees alike.

Tom Greenacre, MD of Purplebricks, said: “It’s understandable that people are nervous about the cost of selling their home and moving house given the cost-of-living crisis – but they don’t have to be. No, far better to hike your prices 50% during a cost of living crisis and ask people for £3k+ whether they sell or not. Compare this with a fee from an agent paid from proceeds of sale. In many parts of the UK, £3k is more than proper agents charge on a no sale no fee basis. A very misjudged policy.

Where I live, several properties are listed on Best Agent 2,3 & even 4 times - so in terms of Charlie's website, he is spot on. ;)

It would be useful to know what happened. If for example it was a ransomware attack, then people would know that their data is locked, but safer than other forms of hacks where data is stolen. I have seen the effects of ransomware, and if that's the case, then Simplify have my utmost sympathy.

The Letting Industry Council has had significant influence and has even been attended by ARLA. You don't to pay to be a member. It is attended by MHCLG & Lord Best. In another article Propertymark seem to be claiming credit for UPRN as well. I find the statement 'Propertymark says it’s only agent body with influence on government' astonishing. Look what SAFEagent achieved with CMP.
