my expertise in the industry

I have worked in the Property Industry since 1999 (God I feel old now!), when I started out as a Secretary in a small single office in Walthamstow (back when flats where still selling for £50k!). I have worked in Administration, Sales, Property Development, Lettings, Property Management, and Marketing in those years. I have worked for my current company for over 10 years now, and it is by far the best Agency I have ever worked for.

It is a gamble, agreed, but one that has saved me thousands over the past few years. I was advised by pretty much everyone to seek a fixed rate term when my mortgage deal expired, however I have been keeping an eye on any news involving Mark Carney, the Bank of England and interest rates and decided to leave it at the SVR for a little longer. A few years on I have saved a fortune compared to what I would have been paying on a fixed rate term. Sooner or later I have to fix it - and ideally before they hike fixed rate terms.

We have even had other Agents who were marketing the same property steal photos! Suddenly they popped up on Rightmove right next to our own Ad. Perhaps the Agent did not realise we instructed and paid a Photographer to take professional shots but there's no excuse, however some people have no scruple!

@Algarve Investor: The Government can see it alright! Sadly the majority of MPs serve only themselves and their own interests. As for people paying half their wages in rent - if only it was just half. A standard 2-bedroom flat in my area (Zone 4) costs around £1200 pcm - my income is just below £1600 pcm which would leave me £400 a month for Council Tax, food, bills as well as school uniforms and travel costs. Thankfully I bought a 3-bed house years back and am lucky enough to have a low mortgage, - I pay a fraction of what I would pay in rent. I feel sorry for those stuck in expensive rental accommodation as it's becoming more and more difficult to find something affordable in the Greater London area, whether buying or renting.
