Agent secures Chilean island for upcoming auction

Agents may like to market properties as “unique” and “exclusive” but an agency and auction brand may have a decent excuse to use these words for its latest listing.

Pattinson Auction, a sister brand to North East agency Pattinson has secured a rather different listing for its catalogue from its partner agents in Spain - an exclusive Chilean island for sale via auction, with a starting bid of €4.9m.

Located in the Pumalin National Park, northern Patagonia, the Isla Los Conejos is described as one of the world’s last remaining unspoilt landscapes. 

It comprises of 23.60 acres incorporating mountains and dense rainforests, dazzling fjords on the Yelcho Lake, as well as the Futaleufu River, famed for white water rafting.

The island lies within the town of Chaiten, which neighbours the popular tourist towns of Futaleufu and Palena. 

The National Park protects the regions flora and fauna, including a native forest with 3000-year-old endangered trees as well as many rare species of animal. 

The island comes with two furnished cabins, one of which has two bedrooms and one with one-bedroom. 

Water is accessed through mechanical extraction and electricity is provided to the facilities through a gas generator. 

A solid iron pier is currently under construction on the island.
