Gascoigne Halman founder marks 50-year milestone

Gascoigne Halman founder John Halman is marking 50 years in estate agency.

Halman entered estate agency in 1973 and, demonstrating a natural flair for property sales, swiftly reached partner level before deciding to launch his own estate agency – Gascoigne Halman - in 1989.

The business grew throughout the 1990s ending that decade with 14 offices before it was acquired by Connells in 2015.

He remains at the helm of the brand though, adding: “When you name is above the door, you can never really walk away.”

Halman received a standing ovation from over 1,000 industry peers as he collected a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his half century at the recent Estate Agency Masters event in London.

Peter Higham, managing director of Gascoigne Halman, added: “John is a hugely respected and admired member of the property community and it was superb to see his commitment to estate agency celebrated by the industry.

“John’s passion for property has never wavered and has seen Gascoigne Halman grow from a single office in Wilmslow in 1989 to 22 offices and over 200 staff today. His dedication to outstanding service and innovation is hugely inspirational to our team and has ensured Gascoigne Halman remains so successful.”
