Agency chief faces allegations of domestic abuse

The managing director of an estate agency has pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault by beating but did not enter a plea to other alleged domestic abuse charges.

Matthew Pahlavan, 41, of Hove - the managing director of Truemans agency in Hove - has appeared before Brighton magistrates charged with assault by beating, intentional strangulation, engaging in controlling/coercive behaviour and sending a letter/communication/article conveying a threatening message.

The Brighton Argus, covering the case, says the charges relate to alleged incidents involving Pahlavan and a former partner between February 1 and September 19 this year.

He has been released on bail with strict conditions and will appear at crown court on October 20.

The Argus report says: “Pahlavan is alleged to have continuously beaten the woman, demanded her mobile phone location services be switched on, demanded she go to work, demanded photos of her current clothing, made accusations she turns him into a bad person, made threats of assaulting her and made threats of arson.”
