The Acorn Group promises business as usual after sell-off to LRG

The Acorn Group has promised its clients that it will be business as usual following its acquisition by Leaders Romans Group (LRG).

It was announced yesterday that LRG has acquired South East London and Kent agency The Acorn Group.

This is LRG’s largest acquisition to date and one of the largest acquisitions completed in the property industry in recent years.

It represents further expansion into South East London and Kent following earlier acquisitions of Northfields in March, and Portico in October 2021.

The previous majority owners of the Acorn business, founders Rob Sargent and Alan Cornish will now step away from operations while chief executive Neil Louth, lettings director Paul Deveney and their whole senior management team will remain with the company.

Louth said in a message to suppliers that there will be “very little disruption and change to the service.”

He said: “The Leaders Romans Group is a company with values and a culture that closely mirrors ours - one where clients and staff are looked after, with a focus on a high level of service and the friendly insightful approach you have come to expect.

Combining resources will mean we can provide you with more services than ever, which we look forward to discussing with you in more depth.”

He said clients will continue to work with the same teams in the same locations who can be contacted on their usual phone numbers and e-mail addresses.

The Acorn Group will continue to operate from its current office network under its current brand.

Matthew Light, group mergers and acquisitions director at LRG, added, “This acquisition marks a significant milestone for LRG, with the backing of Platinum Equity we have set our sights on larger businesses, and this is the biggest acquisition in the group’s history.

“The Acorn Group story is revered, and we look forward to maintaining an ongoing relationship with the company’s founders.

“South East London and Kent is an area that forms part of our ambitious growth strategy and will now be supported by this valued team.”
