EUROS: England bite back against Great Danes - our Agent Report

How are the fingernails? After a tense night and with England destined for their first international tournament final in 55 years (yes, really) let’s relive the Wembley glory with our latest Agent’s Report.

Big thanks to Kristjan Byfield from base and The Depositary for a rapid turnaround and his own inimitable style allowing us to enjoy the game again, complete with his take on what lessons our industry can draw.

Here we go, Here we go, Here we go… over to you Kristjan…

We’ve done it! We’re in the final! After so many years of heartache - we finally held our nerve!

After the hysteria fades and I look at what we learn from this epic day, I think it’s having the resilience to fend off the small things to reach the big goal.

There’s been a lot of talk lately around the psychology of ‘losing’ in agency. Losing a valuation, losing a valuation, losing a buyer….a huge part of our daily lives is failing (often through no fault of our own).

The match took grit.

England top and tailed their performance tonight but the middle belonged to the Danes.

At around an hour, England took a battering but despite individual players stumbling the team held firm.

This ability to absorb the Viking hordes for an hour took its toll on them, leaving England to reign largely supreme for the last 40 minutes.

Attacks bombarded the Danish goal in the dying minutes of normal play.

My point is this - as individuals in agency we need to have a healthy and realistic relationship with failure.

As employers and managers, whilst we strive to make our teams succeed what’s often best is to offer the greatest support when our teams struggle and appear to fail. If we do that then who knows where they can lead us when they succeed.

Bring on the final!
