Agents Do Charity…as we can see a roadmap to freedom…

Hello, welcome to our latest charity roundup, and as the weather improves and the vaccine roll-out lifts the spirits, so we have a larger than usual collection of great news today.

GAP Project: Claire Meyer, director of Meyers Estate Agents, has been recognised with a Sustainability Award presented by Successful Women in Business South West, for her role in setting up the GAP Project in Dorchester in association with mental health charity Dorset Mind.


Claire who founded the home-based estate agency, Meyers Franchising with husband Mark, was inspired to develop the community eco-project to help those suffering with mental health issues as the result of lived experience within their family. 

She explains: “Spending time in green spaces or bringing nature into everyday life can benefit both mental and physical wellbeing. The GAP Project offers outdoor opportunities to grow and tend four allotment plots and the GAP Project’s trained staff and volunteers provide practical support to those referred to the project with mental health problems. The aim is to improve the quality of life and support our participants, both young and old, to build confidence, self-esteem and resilience while connecting with nature and other people.  There is something for everyone.”

Mental Health Foundation: Rob Brady of supplier Iceberg Digital is running a David Goggins Challenge from March 5 - that’s four miles every four hours for 48 hours. The aim is to raise £1,000 and you can see more details here.

School Lockdown Closures: Estate agency Manning Stainton has pledged £10,000 to help schools and pupils who have been affected by lockdown closures.

Schools from Leeds, Wakefield and Wetherby will be able to apply for donations from the agent’s school support fund to help finance equipment, materials and resources to help pupils currently learning from home and those that will need additional support when they return to the classroom.

The fund is open now and will remain open when pupils return to the classroom. Any schools from Leeds, Wakefield and Wetherby can apply for a donation by visiting here

Speaking about the fund, Mark Manning, managing director of Manning Stainton, says: “There are thousands of students across our region currently being home schooled due to enforced school closures, but many are struggling because of a lack of equipment and resources.”


Ainsworth-Lord Estates: Deborah Ainsworth-Lord is raising money for an unusual cause - that is, a 90-year-old man allegedly conned into becoming a guarantor for his son who was renting a property through the agency.

The tenant refused to pay rent, leaving the pensioner to pay the £3,500 in instalments. You can see more details here.
