Zoopla scraps non-property ads on listings to boost focus on agents

With portal rivalry hotting up again, Zoopla has announced that with immediate effect it’s removing all non-property related adverts from all its listing pages.

The change, it says, is designed to ensure these pages are entirely focused on marketing properties and the agent that is listing them.

A statement from the portal says that by removing visual distractions, decluttering the web page and helping it to load faster, the aim is to ultimately drive better marketing reach for properties listed on the portal and, by extension, for agents.

The statement went on to say that the initiative is “part of Zoopla’s ongoing enhancements to the website to deliver a better service to agents and to increase the focus on driving leads and instructions for agent partners through a better user experience and improved SEO.”

“We’ve listened to feedback from agents and this change is one of a number of small but important steps we are taking to ensure we are best positioned to support the day to day needs of our agents and consumers” explains Charlie Bryant, managing director of Zoopla’s property division.

“It’s vital to set the standard for the property search experience and this is all part of that process. Listings are the lifeblood of agents and we need to have the best search experience available around those listings” he continues.

“Our focus is to become the number one property destination in the UK and to enhance each agent’s reach and visibility.
