Market Harborough Carnival: Estate agency Harrison Murray is in celebratory mood as it marks both the local carnival and the Queen's 90th birthday.

To help mark the right Royal occasion, the team in the Leicestershire town has enlisted the talents of creative youngsters from the nearby Little Angels Day Nursery to help get the party started.

Children from the nursery, as well as youngsters visiting the branch with their parents, are being invited to add their own splash of colour to cut-out crowns which will decorate the town centre office - both for the carnival and as part of Her Majesty's 90th birthday celebrations in June.

"We have been involved in some way with the Market Harborough Carnival for a number of years and really enjoy giving our support to such a great event for the town. This year we will be having a stall at the carnival, and hosting a series of games for visitors to take part in – as well as decorating the branch window with some amazing coloured crowns, which will help to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday" says Harrison Murray sales negotiator Sarah Ward.

And there will be a crowning glory for one lucky youngster – with the winning design receiving a 25 book voucher following the event.

Harrison Murray Estate Agents and the Nottingham Estate Agency (both part of the Nottingham Building Society) branches will be staging their own celebrations to commemorate the Queen's 90th birthday on Friday June 10.

Big Lunch Street Party: The Acton branch of estate agency Portico is to sponsor the upcoming ‘Big Lunch’ street party in East Acton.

The free event, which will be held from noon on June 12, will be a fun-filled day of patriotic celebrations to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday.

There will be live performances from The Viski Collective and Barbara Speake Stage School, plus a dog show and Zumba performances by local schools, musicians and street dancers. A buffet table of food donated by local residents will also be available for all to share, so please bring something to contribute.

Sponsorship boards to promote the event will be erected in Acton this week and Robert Nichols, Portico’s managing director, says: “We love the community feel in Acton - and the event will be a great way of bringing local residents and businesses together for a day of fun, while raising a glass to Her Majesty and a raffle to raise funds for the Ealing Night Shelter and Acton Homeless Concern.”

Morley Victoria Primary School Defibrillator: Manning Stainton has funded the purchase of an automated external defibrillator at Morley Victoria Primary School which will also be available to the local community in case of emergency.

The portable electronic device is designed to be easy to use with the help of simple audio and visual commands. It provides life-saving treatment to heart attack sufferers by allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm when correctly applied.

Paul Cooke, manager of the Morley branch of Manning Stainton says: “There can be no better initiative for us to support than one which helps save lives. That is why we had absolutely no hesitation in providing the funds when the school approached us.”

Brownlee Foundation Triathlon: Olympic gold medal hero Alistair Brownlee MBE has teamed up with Yorkshire agency Linley & Simpson to give children the chance to complete their first triathlon.

Hundreds of youngsters will take part in the Brownlee Foundation Triathlon, sponsored by Linley & Simpson, when it is staged for the first time in Harrogate on June 7.

Students from local primary schools will aim to emulate the success of the British triathlete and the current Olympic, European and Commonwealth champion, who is now poised to add to his medal collection at Rio De Janeiro this summer.

Over the day, they will take part in a special triathlon “taster” experience by taking advantage of the school’s sporting facilities to swim 30 metres, cycle 1 kilometre and run 400 metres.

Alistair visited the school to join Linley & Simpson directors, Will Linley and Nick Simpson, and young participants from Ashville College for an insight into the gruelling training regime he has to undertake every day. He also shared top tips for following in his footprints and becoming an Olympic champion.
