An exchange on Twitter has shown the possible pitfalls involved in giving a property a so-called early bird' listing on new portal OnTheMarket.
On February 5 one of the OTM directors - Ed Mead, executive director at London agency Douglas & Gordon - posted a photograph linked to a tweet saying:
Opposite Battersea Park, a Prince of Wales three bed flat that can exclusively be seen at #OnTheMarket #EarlyBird.
But the next day leading buying agent Henry Pryor - a keen user of Twitter - retorted by tweeting a photograph of the same property's listing on Rightmove. Henry wrote:
You know I hate to argue with you @ed_mead but it was listed on @Rightmove on Jan 15...
According to research by Estate Agent Today, they both missed the fact that the same property had also been posted on Zoopla, too, this time on January 16.
Ed immediately put his hands up, starting his next tweet:
Alright Henry Marple, local manager wasn't aware, bang to rights...
Henry then concluded the debate with the hashtag #noonelikesacleverdick

Twitter was also recently found out to be out of control for bullying and "trolls" it's not the perfect place to do any sort of business to start with.
Will tomorrow's headline be that an online agent has gone and pinched the listing
Isn't the real question here to ask how that home-owner feels about their property being used a football for the benefit of the estate agent
Given the flack directed at the portals for using agents' data, isn't this a case of hypocrisy but this time with home-owners data
This is the real question which I suppose the commentators below need answering to classify this as news.
Strange piece but for the avoidance of doubt #NoOneLikesACleverDick was a reference to me, not to Ed.
As those who saw the exchange on Twitter know he took my leg-pulling exactly as expected, in good humour and with good grace. I think that now leaves the score at 3:1 - annoyingly to Ed! ;)
Sounds like Pryor was being rather over critical of OTM to me...
Well - he has to earn his money, Ray... ;o)
No, it is not 'news'. It is just another opportunity for Graham Norwood to 'slate' OTM as he seems to do so constantly.
And this is news!
