The spirit of Christmas has spluttered into life at Rightmove, where they are running a festive competition for its devoted home browsers.

It is offering, as you’d expect, life-changing riches and today’s equivalent of double helpings of frankincense, gold and myrrh.

Well, actually, it’s £100 M&S gift vouchers for each of three winners.

Meanies!

Entrants just have to guess correctly how many property searches were made on Rightmove on Christmas Day 2010.

Before you all shout the correct answer, which is obviously ‘One million’, the sad news is that agents are banned from entering.

However, for those members of the public scratching their heads, Rightmove says that the answer is not hard to come up with: “We’ll give you a small hint to get you started (this time of year is making us feel generous!)… The answer is probably more than you would think.

“Believe it or not, 48 calls from Rightmove home-hunters were answered by dedicated agents across the country on Christmas Day last year – now that’s Christmas spirit!”

Er, yes. Their words, not ours.
