A new version of the Great British Property Cycle is to take place this year, to raise money for the Estate Agency Foundation which will pass on the funds to a range of homeless charities.

Last year’s event raised around £70,000, but this year a huge cross-Britain event is not being planned, Zoopla is no longer the sponsor and the beneficiaries will not include Shelter.

The event will consist of agents and industry suppliers being asked to cycle between 20 and 100 miles in September. They can do so in any way they want, including group cycle rides, jaunts on tandems, cycling to work, or even cycling on a static bike in a gym.

This year’s sponsors are Brief My Market and the Property Academy, a sister organisation to the Estate Agency Foundation.

Further supporters will be announced next week.

Fundraisers who excel themselves will be offered the opportunity to donate their fundraising to the homeless charity of their choice, while the person who raises the most money will win a bicycle donated by LSLI up to the value of £750.

LSLI director Jon Cooke, founder of the Great British Property Cycle, said: “Having organised the event last year, we know that a little extra incentive will really encourage people to get out there and get cycling, and this seems to be an appropriate reward.”
