Mouseprice, acquired 18 months ago by the Daily Mail, is relaunching its website, including its free-to-list property portal.

The  site – the result of a year’s development – is to have new features, plus easier navigation and faster page loading times. The property listing gives home-hunters the ability to search by area, plus othr information such as homes longest and shortest on market and most reduced in price.

In its eight years, Mouseprice’s reputation has largely been forged as a provider of residential property information of interest to home buyers and sellers as well as to ‘nosy neighbours’.

Launched by Calnea Analytics, the number cruncher for the Land Registry, it uses official data to give house price data, including information as to sold and selling prices plus valuations online.

Calnea was acquired by the Daily Mail group in summer 2010, where it is part of the Landmark group of property information businesses.

It is not part of the Daily Mail’s Digital group, which publishes the FindaProperty and Primelocation sites, and which is in the throes of trying to merge with its independent rival Zoopla. Were FindaProperty, Primelocation and Zoopla all to merge as one, it would still leave the Daily Mail with one property portal that it owns outright.

Mouseprice managing director Selwyn Lim said of the relaunch: “Mouseprice has always been a great destination for property information, and more recently to find property for sale and for rent.

“With our new-look website, we’re building on that heritage and improving the way that information and listings alike are displayed.

“With all the market information Mouseprice has to offer, the challenge is finding ways to display it which aren’t overwhelming for the user, but we think the new site has cracked it.”

He added: “In the current economic climate, all sections of the residential property market have had to rethink how they advertise themselves, as well as asking which products are working for them. At Mouseprice we have thought long and hard on how to give property professionals a leading edge.

“For estate agents, Mouseprice continues to provide a completely free platform to showcase both sales and lettings listings.

“The new site has also substantially improved the layout of its property pages to assist estate agents in generating more leads.

“This means that listings on Mouseprice will now benefit from a much improved page design and larger picture sizes – and most importantly, agents’ branch contact details will appear centre stage for any prospective buyers to see.”

Buyers have just about heard of zoopla. I tell people their property will go online with zoopla, their reaction is, CANT IT GO ON RIGHTMOVE!

We all pay rightmove and advertise in our branches - now we have to pay rightmove to get listings.

Then we advertise on findaproperty and fund their marketing campaign - now the public wants their properties on this portal as well, we now have to pay findaproperty.

We advertise on Zoopla and get them national recoginition - Now the public wants their properties on Zoopla so we have to pay to be on there.

So yes, I would rather pay rightmove an extorionate amount and only have to pay ONE portal, than pay for all of these bloody other portals that agents (who think they are going to remain free forever) keep advertising!!!

Errr, have you looked at their contract? Maybe it guarantees the service will remain free?

And, if everyone uploaded their properties to this free portal - and stopped uploading to other portals - othger portals might suddenly drop their prices.

You're the bloke in the cell who won't use the tunnel that took months to dig. When the guards burst in you plead; 'I'm a good boy, I didn't escape'. But they take you out and shoot you anyway for not grassing the tunnel diggers up.

The new site is great and has good potential. I agree with AceofSpades they are a nice bunch of people - with the little amount of dealings we have had with them. Note to Mouseprice - get rid of the 'Added...' and enable a link to each agents website as Primelocation do, agents can then advertise Mouseprice on their websites and do what they should have done a long time ago leave highly destructuive portals like Rightmove.

Thank you so much to EAT and everyone who got in touch! We've been flooded with new upload requests. We will get back to you all individually, but please bear with us.

Again Spartacus, please send us an email and we'll sort out the date issue with your listings asap. It is in our interest as well that we get it right, but we can't fix it if we don't know which listings are at fault.

Come on, spartacus couldn't be that stupid could he?

it is probably not the date format but more likely his software is passing out a date added as "available since date" with 143 property systems available, including some cheap US imports Mouseprice techies will have a devils job to keep them all happy.

This could be a minor bug but nothing worse than RM, FAP, PL have had and overcome in the past.

My only suggestion would be to add a location plus x miles radius tool as on Rightmove.

Leave them to do it their way. Location modelling is something that takes time to get right and so far no-one has a decent solution. Radii searches from North Devon usually include properties in South Wales, which is just across the river?

It looks clear and concise. My only suggestion would be to add a location plus x miles radius tool as on Rightmove.

112 days sits very nicely with your regional settings being in US date format.

Anyone who knows the trigger point indicators on the Stock market will be looking at RM and also the central London bubble and sensibly remembering the old adage.
Don’t be greedy take the profit.
It might not be Mouseprice, it could be Radar, AsktheHomesearch or even the umpteenth reincarnation of Propertylive but eventually the RM bubble is going to be popped by something unseen. Miles and co can well afford cash in their stakes in RM at any time leaving it to either burst or slowly deflate over time. The motivation to make it bigger and better has already gone, clearly apparent from their attitude. There is only so much money one needs. The only thing preventing RM from closing down today is the desire for more money and the perverse pleasure of seeing how far they can tug the string before it snaps.
Someone will be there to pick up the bits. Good luck Mouseprice; it could be you!

Sorry but how can the feed be out of date if you have the property, all the media data from the most recent of listings and yet it is only the days on the market that is incorrect? Some that have been listed within the last month are showing as on market for over a year!
I sure you get the same data feed from our software company that RM/Zoopla and our own website does.

spartacus - please contact (information@mouseprice.com) and we will be happy to sort out the issue you have. Just so you know, we use the date that is passed to us by the agent via the data feed. Your software must be passing us this older date for some reason.

so the property I listed last week, shows as being on the market for 112 days. Why? You want to help agents mouseprice, thats not helping at all.

I hardly feel that Mouseprice is going to set the world on fire but hey ... if its free, and has a remote chance of producing results!
