Only 53 property auctions took place in August, the Essential Information Group has reported

Lots offered and sold were both up on 2012 by 10% and 17% respectively, while the total raised jumped 36% to £65.7m.

EIG also reports that 815 more lots were sold in the three months to the end of August compared with the same period in 2012 (a 16% increase), while over 1,100 more were sold in the year to August (a 4% increase).

Most of the lots sold in August were residential. A total of 874 homes were offered and 633 sold – a success rate of 72.4%.

By contrast, in August 2012, 776 residential lots were offered and 534 sold, a success rate of 68.8%.
