Jackson-Stops & Staff has reported a significant rise in sales and properties going under offer, according to chairman Andrew Froude.

In August, the number of properties where contracts were exchanged was up by 28%, year on year, and those under offer across the 43 offices of Jackson-Stops & Staff showed a year on year increase of 9.5%.

The gross realisation for the month was up by 34% and there was also a year on year increase in the average value per transaction, up by 5%.

Froude said: “New instructions and the total number of instructions both showed an increase. A number of our offices have commented that the market has certainly picked up but there are, of course, regional and market sector variations.

“Nevertheless, in these testing times, positive indicators are most welcome even if Indian summers are sometimes followed by cold winters.”
