Free to list portal Globrix, which is introducing charging for traffic to agents’ own sites, has spruced up its appearance.

The biggest change is a new ‘Know’ section, which allows users to search for area guides that include information on local estate agents, house prices and other details.

The area guides contain a number of properties for sale in that area, average asking price, changes in prices in the area, number of properties sold per month and how this compares to nearby areas, plus photos of the area and local schools, restaurants, shops, transport links and other amenities.

The property listings pages have also had an upgrade, while a new homes section has been introduced.

Well said Mr Saunders, if the agents adopted some common standards for their feeds and controlled to whom and how often they sent them then they would control both where their listings went and their accuracy. For those sites that scape them then a simple check of their web stats and change to their robots.txt would allow them to do the same too. I wish they would stop complaining about these sites and simply act more professionally in how they remarket their properties. Surely this is in their clients interests?

I would be quite happy for our properties to be featured on these sites IF they were accurate and up to date.
I have just had to calm down an angry buyer who thought we had started to re-offer the place he has agreed to buy - all because its showing on Mouseprice.com as available. Not helpful.

globrix has always charged for some services but it is free to list. That is normal it is not a charity and has always had paid for services. I do not buy traffic but I do pay to get my logo on the site. It costs be a fraction for what i pay the other sites and works for me. Why does everyone here think that portals should not charge anything??? I would not sell properties for free. If Globrix charged me to list or said i could only list if I paid for leads then I would leave but so far so good.

stop bitching, its free to upload your properties, if you want to increase the level of enquiries you pay a bit more and then it has to stand on its own merit against the other forms of marketing.

Christ you'd think Globrix were a charity

If only propertylive would get its act together!
The only 'future safe' site is one that is actually fully controlled by bone-fide agents themselves.

"How can this not be classed as charging for listings?" - Easily...we're not charged to list! Our properties are all still on Globrix for free, if someone likes one they can phone us or email us. Our details are on each listing.
We had a sales rep in to talk to us about buying traffic, to be honest we don't have the budget to buy traffic at the moment but that doesn't mean we won't get any from Globrix. We do still get traffic from them (as of looking at our analytics today) and I'll happily take what's free. My understanding is that you get MORE traffic if you pay, but I'm happy with what we get for free. Why wouldn't you?! Reading some of the comments here makes it sound like people don't understand...take what's free on every site! That's how we survive a downturn!!!!

I do not know how anybody did not see this coming. You never get anything for free in life, surely as estate agents you should know this. By providing all these "new" portals with yur properties and advertising them, you are only digging a deeper hole. As much as i dislike them, no one will ever be as big as rightmove and deep down, we all know that. Globrix will argue this and say that it is free to list your property. But to recieve traffic or get your properties to the top of the results pages, you will have to pay.

Why not use a portal that charges next to nothing (£10 + Vat per month per office) and guarantees the price forever.

Globrix charging, we never saw that coming :-)

    You control the costs.

IF ALL AGENTS SAY THEY WANT BE REMOVED FROM GLOBRIX... THEN THERE IS NO GLOBRIX. LIKE RUNNING A CHIPPY WITHOUT POTATOES.

AGENTS !! DO NOT LET YOUR DETAILS BE SCRAPED EVEN IF LIKES OF GLOBRIX THEY SAY IT IS FREE! They get the traffic then they try AND shaft us. Im getting sick and tired of theses portals and search engines companies dictating price. ESTATE AGENTS SHOULD BE DICTATING PRICE AND THE SERVICE WE WANT.

As soon as anyone thinks we might stand a chance of making a living again, the leeches re-attach themselves to the jugular.

Estate Agents are supposed to the sharks. All I read is how we keep getting ripped off. Hip's- rip off, glowbrix saw us coming, rightmove seem to have a monopoly on insecure agents who think it actually works. Wake up agents!!! your to honest!!

Really, not the least bit surprised about this. How can this be classed as not charging for listings?! Very poor.

    Hold on a minute.
A few days ago, Dan Lee said he would not charge agents - now it appears they are charging agents - I'm confused !!
Globrix make a big thing about not charging for listings on the site, but we all know that they link back to agents sites - so indirectly they are charging for listing - you can't have one without the other.
Are they trying to con us - feels like it
I know its Friday, its been a long tough week - but what am i missing here ?
