Generous funds coming in to boost Sean Newman appeal

It’s great to get news of those in the industry who are helping Sean Newman and James Golding ‘complete their journey’.

Sean Newman, chairman of Newman’s Estate Agents, and colleague James Golding were two-thirds of the way across America when they were hit by a truck at 70mph.

Both men suffered serious injuries, with Newman breaking his back, pelvis and both legs, but their primary concern was in raising the remaining £50,000 of their £100,000 target for three cancer charities: Macmillan Cancer Support, CoppaFeel and Livestrong.



The charities hold special meaning to Golding, who was himself given the all-clear from cancer a year ago, having been given only a 10% chance of survival when he was first diagnosed.



To help them reach their target, conveyancing firm myhomemove's staff will be cycling the remaining 1,000 miles the pair had left, albeit on two static exercise bikes set up in their office lobby.



Stephen Hayter, national sales director, said: “Sean Newman is one of the nicest guys you’ll meet and he does so much work for charity. News of his accident shocked everyone here.

“Our staff are raring to go and we’ll all be taking it in turns, as from next week.”

Congratulations and thanks also to Harrison Murray estate agents who raised £838. They pledged to donate £1 for every viewing the company arranged last week, whilst some customers also donated.

“During the week of July 26 our staff made an extra special effort to encourage buyers to book viewing appointments to see properties – and our customers haven’t disappointed us. One lady in Melton Mowbray dropped in £10 even though she was not even looking for a property.”
