Domestic Energy Assessors have set up an online ‘whistleblower’ on their association’s website where they can tip off other members about HIP companies and others who are bad payers.

The Institute of Domestic Energy Assessors (IDEA) says that the Conservatives’ insistence that they would scrap HIPs is causing a growing number of providers to scale back their operations or pull out of the market altogether.

IDEA says: “We fear this will lead to an escalation of bad payers and we are becoming increasingly worried about the already high incidences of both panels and some HIP companies failing to pay DEAs for EPC work they have carried out at their behest.”

IDEA has appointed committee member Paul Walker to manage the ‘whistleblower’ section and to help members recoup some of their outstanding debts.

The new section can only be viewed by members. IDEA says: “This means that any members affected by bad debt can share their experiences on our forum without fear of recrimination.”

What a complete mess this HIP business is!

Well, only six months or so and it should all be over (except of course for EPC's - we seem to be stuck with them - albeit their being useless)

That is a really good idea but what about the reverse situation? We are a major Hip provider to DEA's Solicitors and Estate Agents. They buy the parts of, or the whole, Hip from us and sell them on. Our current worst debtors are DEA's closely followed by Estate Agents.
