The Great British Property Christmas Cake Bake, an annual event organised by the Estate Agency Foundation, is set to raise funds for homeless charities through a series of seasonal themed coffee mornings throughout the UK.

The Foundation is calling on estate agents to get baking and arrange a festive coffee morning at their local branch on a selected date (or dates) this month for staff, clients and exhausted Christmas shoppers.

Bill McClintock, chairman at the Estate Agency Foundation, said: “This is a call to arms to all agents out there to organise a Christmas coffee morning at their branch and raise money for homelessness over the festive period – a time of year when this nationwide problem is particularly poignant.

“This is not just a chance to showcase the chewiness of your cookies, the richness of your mince pies or the moistness of your Christmas cake, but a chance to create fun, festive cheer by raising money for homeless charities, and networking with current and prospective clients.”

Last year Andrews estate agent in Eastbourne raised £2,656 for the Estate Agency Foundation – making them the 2012 champions of the event. As well as baking delicious cakes, they approached over 40 local businesses asking them to donate prizes towards a charity raffle.

This year, the highest fundraiser will be invited to donate the money they have raised to a homeless charity of their choice. The EAF will match this amount up to £1,000.
