Just wondering what other landlords think about allowing pets in their properties. A tenant of mine has asked for permission to get a dog. It’s not a very big dog so I am thinking of allowing it. Does anyone have any personal experience with this? Do the cons outweigh the pros? Most people I've spoken to think it's bad idea - more trouble than it's worth. The potential damage to property and issues with insurance (apparently insurers don't like certain breeds of dog) seem to put people off, but I'd be interested to know if some landlords have had more positive experiences.
