Rugby legend named as property awards host

The inaugural Northwest PROPS Awards will be hosted by England and British Lions rugby legend Martin Bayfield.

The two-time Grand Slam winner will host the ceremony taking place for the first time in the North West of England this November.

The ceremony will offer a chance for the North West’s property professionals to celebrate the industry sector’s outstanding achievements and successes, whilst being entertained by Martin’s rugby anecdotes, as well as tales from his experience as both a police officer and Robbie Coltrane’s body double in Harry Potter.

The Variety Northwest PROPS will include unique awards such as the Property for Purpose Award, which aims to showcase a project that is charity-based in nature and is beneficial to its stakeholders.

Lyn Staunton, development director for Variety, explained that Martin was the charity’s first choice for the Northwest PROPS after successfully hosting the PROPS in London for many years.

She said: “We are so thrilled to have Martin on board.

“He has been involved with our London PROPS for over ten years now and always delivers a superb event for our guests.

“The attendees are sure to be entertained and as an accomplished charity auctioneer, Martin knows just how much the Northwest fundraising can support disabled and disadvantaged children in the region.”

Backing for the awards has also already seen some of the biggest names in property offer their support. Kingmoor Park Properties and Together are headline sponsors and Downing has pledged to be the partnership sponsor.

The event aims to celebrate the property industry and help fund more wheelchairs, Sunshine Coaches, days out, and specialist equipment right here in the Northwest.

Nominations can now be made via the Variety website, with categories such as the Rising Star Award, Funder Award, and Agent Award up for grabs.

The deadline is 25 September, with a shortlist being announced at the beginning of October.
