Conveyancers reveal industry gripes

The majority of conveyancers would advise aspiring lawyers against entering the profession, research has revealed.

It comes as a survey by Today’s Conveyancer highlighted issues facing frontline conveyancers.

Of more than 200 responses, 84% answered no the question of if you were an aspiring lawyer today, would you look to enter the conveyancing profession?

Asked what they felt the key issues facing conveyancers are, the main challenges were the consequences of the Building Safety Act, extra responsibilities and Land Registry delays.

Other issues of concern included anti-money laundering and compliance burdens, low fees and standards and a lack of direction from bodies such as the Law Society and Council of Licensed Conveyancers.

These organisations also ranked behind the Bold Legal Group when asked who effectively represents conveyancer intentions and views.
