At Ease! Agency wins award for being Forces-Friendly

Spicerhaart has received a Silver Award in the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme which acknowledges the agency group’s commitment to being a forces-friendly employer.

The country’s largest independent agency group has achieved the accreditation after a campaign to make the firm an attractive place for armed forces personnel to continue their careers after leaving the military, or for Army Reservists to work while they await mobilisation.

Timothy Davies - a senior branch manager at Spicerhaart’s Darlows brand in Wales - entered the property sector following a career in the Royal Air Force.

He praised Spicerhaart for the environment that has been created to allow ex-forces personnel to thrive.

“Spicerhaart understands the challenges veterans face when moving from military to civilian life and recognises the valuable skills and experiences that veterans bring to the workforce. This is crucial for veterans because it demonstrates the company’s dedication to providing equal opportunities and support for those who have served their country.

“Spicerhaart prioritises fair treatment, access to essential services and employment opportunities to veterans.  This support can make a real difference in your post-military life by offering tailored assistance, such as training, job opportunities, and flexible arrangements.

“It creates an environment where veterans can thrive, using their skills and contributing effectively to their new civilian careers.”

Emma Barber, Spicerhaart’s armed forces champion, comments: “This is fantastic recognition for our approach to welcoming people with military careers. We already have a healthy number of ex-service personnel working with us, and we will always be open to more.

“The skills learned in the military are transferable, while our top-class training team can help them learn about property and related services.”

Last year, Spicerhaart, whose headquarters is in the garrison town of Colchester, signed the Armed Forces Covenant, began working with the Ministry of Defence Career Transition Partnership (CTP) and achieved their MoD Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award.

Spicerhaart’s success for its latest award was measured by a number of criteria.

- Demonstrating that service personnel/armed forces community are not unfairly disadvantaged as part of their recruiting and selection processes;

- Actively ensuring their workforce is aware of their positive policies towards defence people issues

- Supporting Army Reservists with additional leave and support for them if they are called for mobilisations
