Agency sector stalwart backs AI conveyancing startup

Former LSL boss David Newnes has invested in legal technology startup Collaborative Conveyancing.

The brand is currently developing artificial intelligence tools to help deal with conveyancing queries that often hold up the transaction process.

Newnes, part of the founder management buyout team and board member at LSL Property Services before he left in 2014, said he saw Collaborative Conveyancing as a “much needed solution to help speed up transaction times.”

The investment will allow the technology company, founded by Chris Harris and Karen Babington, to further develop its system to use AI to build semi-automated solutions to the plethora of enquiries that cause so much delay and stress.

Newnes, who has invested in other brands such as agency marketing platform BriefYourMarket, said: “The track record of the team at Collaborative Conveyancing and the progress they are making is exciting.

“I am looking forward to working with the team to help make home buying quicker, more transparent and less stressful, not only for movers but for all the professionals involved."

Harris added: “Using cutting-edge technology and applying this to conveyancing, we are building something that has the opportunity to really support conveyancers dealing with the thorny time consuming task of dealing with conveyancing enquiries, for the benefit of everyone.

“We are delighted that David has recognized that the issue needs solving and chosen to invest which allows us to accelerate the development.”

Perhaps an alternative is more likely to produce the results estate agents crave.
Do the legal bit-as much if it as possible-before marketing the property. Have replies to reasonable enquiries (based on the protocol) prepared before marketing the property. Have all paperwork that will be required by a buyer collated before marketing the property.
