Prime agency marks £50m of sales in first year

The creator of a local social network app acquired by US company Nextdoor is marking a year in prime estate agency with £50m of property already exchanged.

Rupert Jermyn created Streetlife.com in 2007 and it was acquired by US technology company Nextdoor in 2017.

The platform lets residents setup local groups based on where they live.

Rupert already has a history in prime agency having previously worked for Portman Heritage in Marylebone and co-founded south west London-based Chelwood Partners last year.

The business is also run by Gemma Harvey-Perry who worked in the prime London residential markets at Strutt & Parker in Knightsbridge for 13 years and Lane Fox prior to that.

The third founder is Ben Bradshaw, who grew up in Wandsworth and has worked as a residential sales and buying agent at Knight Frank within prime and super prime London.

Chelwood pledges to give 2.5% of every sales fee they receive to a local charity, sports club or school.

It has a sales, lettings and off market service.

The firm recently signed a sponsorship deal with South London’s premier hockey club, Spencer Hockey Club.

The agency also sponsors Spencer Lynx, a charity reaching out to local children who have not had the opportunity to play hockey and provide free Sunday hockey sessions to state school children in Lambeth and Wandsworth. Furthermore, they have just announced that they will be joining the St George’s Hospital Time For A Change programme.

Rupert says: “We founded Chelwood Partners because we saw there was an opportunity for a grown up and bespoke local estate agent, rather than the standard high street offering which is more than often very impersonal.

“We are a low volume and high-quality service proposition and our clients only get us rather than being passed from pillar to post with inexperienced agents. Most of all we really love what we do.”
