Agency to shut down following shock death of owner

An estate agency is shutting for good today following the shock death of its young owner.

Last week we reported that Ciaran McGurgan founded Maison Real Estate in Armagh in 2013; his mother Betty also worked at the agency, which has a second branch in Dungannon.

Now the business is to close permanently.

Announcing the closure on social media, Maison Real Estate, posted: “Due to the unexpected bereavement of Mr Ciaran McGurgan, Maison Real Estate Armagh will sadly be closing its doors after eight years on Friday 1st April 2022.

“We would like to thank clients, friends and neighbours for their amazing support over this past few weeks and for all the loyal custom over the years.

“Staff have been working tirelessly over this past week trying to resolve and assure sales and rentals within the Armagh branch and we wish everyone the best with their transactions.

“… We would like to thank you for your understanding at this very difficult time.”

Maison Real Estate’s Dungannon branch is independently owned and operated by will continue to trade under a new brand name of Baird Real Estate.

Ciaran McGurgan was well known throughout Northern Ireland.

His death notice, posted by his family, reads: “McGurgan, Ciaran [died] suddenly March 19th 2022. Dearly beloved partner of Paul, loving son of Boe and Betty and much loved brother of Adrian and Sean. Sacred Heart of Jesus pray for him.”
