Purplebricks still in charge but online market share drops back

The latest analysis of the performance of the top 10 online estate agencies shows that their market share of new listings over the past two weeks has slipped to 4.8 per cent.

This is a marginal 0.1 per cent down on the previous fortnight, but well below some estimates of their market share.

One other key headline is that Purplebricks has lost 1.6 per cent of share in the past two weeks, although the agency remains streets ahead of its digital opposition: it took a whopping 69.4 per cent of all new listings for online agents in the period under review.

However, while Purplebricks and Yopa increased their listings by 4.0 per cent in the last 14 days, High Street estate agents in total boosted their listings from 78,424 to 85,469 in the same period, which is an 8.0 per cent increase.

This new analysis comes once again from independent property consultancy The Advisory.

In the period under review, from January 23 to February 6 inclusive, the following 10 agencies were the best-performing onliners:

Purplebricks - 2,843 new listings;

Yopa - 450;

HouseSimple - 411;

Doorsteps - 153;

House Network - 78;

99Homes - 60;

Open House Estate Agent - 55;

Sellmyhome - 25;

Settled - 14;

eSale - 10.

The new owners of Emoov have now put the agency back in business but The Advisory says it listed just seven new properties in the past 14 days.
