Agents Do Charity - and if it's Friday, it must be fund-raising...

Hello and welcome to another Agents Do Charity - your opportunity to salute those in our industry working hard for great causes.

If you drop an email to press@estateagenttoday.co.uk with details of what you’re doing, we’ll include you next week.

In the meantime, here we go with this week’s entries.

Fine & Country Foundation: Adam Farrell, director of Fine & Country Brighton and Hove, survived the Tough Mudder obstacle course to raise money for two homeless charities.

Adam and hundreds of competitors took part in the 10 mile challenge with more than 20 obstacles. However, in the lead up to the day, Adam was recovering from a viral chest infection and was close to pulling out. Despite having not trained for the three weeks prior to the event, Adam made it to the finish line.

Adam’s least favourite obstacle however, was The Arctic Enema. Participants slid down a dark pipe into a pool of muddy ice water. In order to get out the water, competitors had to first swim under metal fencing which hangs over the water, forcing everyone to once again dunk their heads under the freezing water.

He says: “The Arctic Enema gave me quite a shock, because I missed the sign to tell me which obstacle it was and just slid down a tube into what I thought would be regular water, to find myself submerged in ice water. It really took my breath away!”

He raised £400 for The Clock Tower Sanctuary and Justlife Foundation, in association with The Fine & Country Foundation. These two homeless charities support the most vulnerable people in Brighton and Hove to give them the support and opportunities required to help them get off the streets for good.

Alzheimer's Society: Mortgage Advice Bureau Swindon's mortgage advisor, Hannah Clegg, put on her running shoes and raised £470 for the society after polishing off the Swindon Half Marathon in an impressive two hours and 44 minutes.

The course, which was changed last year, takes in many of the area's landmarks, including the Old Town and the Magic Roundabout, before finishing in Wharf Green.

Agents Do Charity - and if it's Friday, it must be fund-raising..."I'm so thrilled to have trained for and taken part in this exciting but challenging race - it was a great day. And, of course, it was an excellent chance to raise some much-needed funds to boost vital Alzheimer's research. It's a cause that's very close to my heart” she says.

According to the Alzheimer's Society, dementia is our greatest health and care challenge, and, within a few years, more than a million people will be affected by the condition. The organisation works to change the dementia landscape, and create a society where those experiencing it are accepted and supported, and can live in their communities without prejudice or fear.

Langho Community Bonfire and Firework Display: Property Shop, an Accrington-based sales and lettings agency, is asking locals to donate wooden pallets to be used to help make a Bonfire event a success. 

Money raised will benefit St Leonard's Langho Scout Group's 75 members, helping provide them with skills for life.

Agents Do Charity - and if it's Friday, it must be fund-raising...Pallets must be dropped at the Community Centre behind St Leonard's Church in Langho by Saturday October 27. They don't have to be full pallets: half, broken, pieces of pallets, all will be a huge help!

Jamie Allen, the agency’s joint managing director, says: "We are really hoping the local community get behind us on this and donate their unused, unwanted or going-to-waste pallets to create a night of family fun and enjoyment for local people. The local community is a pivotal part of Property Shop's success; it's important for us to embrace that and give back where we can.”

Time To Talk Befriending: Retirement specialist Homewise is launching this year’s fundraising challenge – The Big Blind Run 2018 – in order to raise money for Time to Talk Befriending.

The challenge is broken up into two parts. On November 4 half of the Homewise staff will be running 10K in pairs, with one of them being blindfolded throughout. Two days earlier, all Homewise employees will be pulling on their hiking boots and heading out on a sponsored 10K coastal walk from their offices in Worthing. 

Their aim is to raise at least £10,000 for this great cause, which will use this money to hire a new permanent staff member, ensuring their befriending services are not limited to Brighton and Hove, but will run in the Worthing community as well.
