Zoopla founder in list of 100 key British business disruptors

ZPG chief executive Alex Chesterman has been named in a list of 100 British businessmen regarded as the key disruptors of their respective industries.

In the annual Maserati 100 list, published in the Sunday Times, Chesterman is described as having shaken up two long-established industries and having made two fortunes in the process.

The first business was the movie rental sector; Chesterman founded Lovefilm in 2002. In 2011 he made several million pounds, according to the newspaper, when Amazon purchased the operation for a reported £200m.

The Sunday Times continues: “The 47 year old created Zoopla in 2008 as a competitor to Rightmove, then Britain’s dominant property website. Zoopla floated in 2014 with a valuation of nearly £1 billion.”

The same list also includes Ishaan Malhi of Trussle, head of what is described as Britain’s first online mortgage brokerage.

ZPG is one of the backers of Trussle, founded by Malhi - who’s just 27 - after he worked in mortgages at the Bank of America.
