Foxtons has won planning consent for an office in the south London suburb of Peckham after another controversy involving opposition from some local residents.
The application for the change of shop front on Rye Lane was to have been dealt with directly by Southwark council planning officers but was ‘called in’ when a councillor received complaints and wanted the issue to be decided by the full authority.
No date has been set for the new office to be opened; it is thought to be one of six set to launch this year, building on the 58 branches operated by the agency at the end of 2015.

Ah, we haven't seen much of Foxtons in the news recently. Glad to see they're still annoying local residents and fighting opposition to the continued expansion of their branches. Peckham, you don't know how lucky you are!
Does show how far Peckham has now come, though, doesn't it? No longer the grimy, dangerous, no-go area made famous by Only Fools & Horses - it's now uber-trendy, a hipsters' paradise. So, we've now had Shoreditch, Brixton, Peckham, Dalston and Hackney - where next for the juggernaut that is gentrification?
You're part-right Jon ... most of Peckham is still dump I'm afraid. Not all, but most.
