Two graffiti attacks on a London estate agency office in just one week have involved the slogans “F*** gentrification” and “Kill gentrifiers” being sprayed on windows.
Mulholland Estate Agents, an independent agency in Holloway, north London, has suffered the bright red and yellow spray attacks.
Proprietor Robert Mulholland has told the Islington Tribune that his firm has been unfairly targeted by those angry at the lack of affordable housing in London.
“I was just shocked when I came in and saw it. It could be a campaign by another [rival] agent or it’s the anti-austerity people. Now it’s happened again I’m getting worried and my staff are worried too. It’s a bit unfair" he says.
He says he understands how some are angry at high rents and house prices. “But we’re a community estate agent. We want to be the guy to go to for help. We work by referral. I’m the only estate agent in Islington who has his own name above his shop, and I ran my own academy and apprenticeships. I only have three staff.”
The Tribune says the police investigation is continuing.
