A solicitor has been struck off for a catalogue of offences, including two counts of dishonesty and issues relating to a deposit on a house.

Agyemang Baffour of New Cross, sotuh London, was said to have misled the Lambeth County Court and a defendant in a case through false representations, fabricated a letter from a client for his own benefit, failed to retain a deposit on a house, failed to account for a client's money, and failed to complete undertakings for another firm of solicitors. He also provided a service to his client that was so poor as to amount to misconduct.

He was working for Baftas Solicitors, New Cross Road, London, at the time of the offences.

As well as being struck off, Mr Baffour was ordered to pay £44,164.44 costs. The case was brought by the Solicitors Regulation Authority; a spokesman for the authority said The principles we ask solicitors to abide by state they must act with integrity and maintain that trust in order that consumers of legal services can have total confidence, Solicitors who fail to uphold these principles can expect to face severe consequences.
